Ben Nevis 6Y – 61.1%
This Ben Nevis bottling has aged, on a 1st Fill Sherry Hogshead for 6 years before being bottled at full cask strength of 61.1%. This is a Heavily peated Ben Nevis bottling, which has lots of characters.
We have only got a very limited batch home, of this bottling.
A little from the bottler even though the reason for choosing the label
This Ben Nevis whisky is the second bottling in Torsten’s symbol of his Scotland series. It follows up on last year’s thistle, where the unicorn is a symbol of Scotland.
The unicorn image is made in watercolor art style by a tattoo artist friend. They chose the unicorn because they think it goes well with Ben Nevis, and because you do not see many like these as well as the label colors in combination with the whisky color.
Sheet Music by Thijs @wordsofwhisky
Reminiscent of the old Macdonalds traditional, but much more intense and rich, and peaty.
1st Fill Sherry Hogshead
A slight hint of burnt matches, but also smoked paprika powder, salted meat and burnt wood followed by charcoal embers, cane sugar and lots of orange peel with just a touch of charred lemon
Big on the smoke and sherry. Lots of charcoal, wood smoke and bitter chocolate, a well some nice chili pepper heat, nougat and marzipan, but also licorice root and dark fruits like prunes and dates
Long and sweet, smouldering, smoky and dark
